Jobs and Taxes
Rob does not believe we have a revenue problem in Louisiana, but a spending problem. He actively opposed increasing taxes in 2017 during the regular and special legislative sessions and opposed unnecessary and unfair tax and fee increases on St Tammany families like the increased tolls on the Causeway bridge and the continuous attempts to increase sales taxes even when voted down by the citizens. Rob believes the first priority in our state should be tax policy reform and the starting point centered around a plan like the Pelican Institute's recently released report, Addressing Louisiana's Budget Shortfall: Strategies For Growth. Rob will apply his leadership skills to help Louisiana families by reaching a tax policy solution that will make Louisiana competitive for business development to attract job creating businesses instead of repelling them.
Education is the foundation of Louisiana's future. As a parent of children educated in our public schools, Rob is active in the effort to improve all of Louisiana's school performance. Our state still has much to do to raise our children's education experience to be competitive. Rob supports a parent's right to choose the school that works best for their child to ensure that child's success. This includes homeschooling. As a parent of a special needs child, Rob recently made the tough decision to become a Home School parent and teacher. Rob supports education programs that don't lead to a 4-year college degree to broaden Louisiana graduates high paying job prospects, especially 2-year Technical College Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) initiatives. A holder of 5 college degrees, Rob believes higher education tailored to each student's needs and desires, is the only way Louisiana"s children will be prepared to compete in the 21st Century.
Rob believes in the natural right to life for all human beings, including the unborn. He fights for our right to bear arms against all opposition. Rob's defense of our 1st and 14th Amendment rights is unparalleled, especially when government force is used to attack them like in the New Orleans Veterans Monument removal.
As a disabled combat veteran himself, Rob knows why it is important to support the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs and reform of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Rob supported several veterans bills in 2017, advocated for the establishment of the new Veterans Court in St Tammany Parish, and continues to advocate for federal reform of all VA programs.
Keeping Us Safe
As a national security expert, Colonel Maness is keenly aware of the impacts of terror group financial networks, boycotting Israel, and sanctuary city policies on Louisiana citizens safety and security. Thats why he supported bills in Louisiana this year that would prevent Louisiana state investments from reaching terrorist countries, stop investing retirement funds in companies that boycott Israel, and set policy that would prohibit cities from establishing sanctuary city policies for illegal aliens. You can watch his testimony at here.
